A Unique Approach to Therapy That Works for You

At Heads & Tails, we understand that traditional, room-based therapy isn’t the right fit for everyone. That’s why we offer innovative, evidence-based therapeutic experiences designed for individuals of all ages—especially those who find it difficult to engage in conventional therapy.

Research shows that 70% of psychological change happens through the therapeutic relationship. This means that the connection you build with your therapist is one of the most powerful factors in your journey toward healing and personal growth. At Heads & Tails, we prioritise trust, safety, and genuine connection, creating a therapeutic space where you feel truly seen, heard, and understood.

Helping You Regulate, Heal & Thrive

We believe that lasting change begins with self-awareness and nervous system regulation. When you can recognise and understand your emotions, you can experience a significant reduction in distress and develop healthier coping strategies.

Our approach helps individuals:

  • Understand & regulate emotional responses

  • Build meaningful connections

  • Develop resilience & confidence

  • Feel safe & supported in their therapeutic journey

A Holistic & Neuro-Affirming Approach

At Heads & Tails, we celebrate the diversity of neurological experiences and recognise that every individual processes the world differently. As a trauma-informed and neuro-affirming practice, we create an environment that is inclusive, validating, and empowering.

Our therapy sessions take place in peaceful, outdoor settings, where nature and animal-assisted interactions enhance the healing process. By combining psychological, body-based, and experiential therapies, we offer a truly individualised and flexible approach that meets you where you are.

Why choose Heads & Tails?

  • Personalised & Adaptive Support – Every person is different, so therapy should be too. We tailor each session to your unique strengths, challenges, and preferences.

  • A More Engaging Therapy Experience – Talking about emotions isn’t always easy. Our mix of movement, sensory experiences, and equine-assisted interactions provides a more interactive, meaningful, and effective way to process emotions.

  • A Whole-Person Approach to Well-being – By addressing the mind, body, relationships, and environment, we help you develop practical skills that create real change in your everyday life.

  • Deep & Lasting Growth – Whether through cognitive techniques, mindfulness, somatic therapy, or nature-based interventions, we support you in building emotional regulation, resilience, and self-awareness for long-term well-being.

At Heads & Tails, therapy isn’t just about talking—it’s about experiencing, feeling, and truly connecting. We’re here to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing, self-discovery, and growth.

The Heads & Tails Approach

What Happens in a Session?

The Heads & Tails approach is unique in integrating evidence-based therapeutic practices with immersive, real-world experiences where thoughts, emotions, and behaviours can be observed and explored in the moment.

During sessions, our team works collaboratively with each client to EXPLORE, CREATE, EXPERIMENT & PROBLEM SOLVE, fostering personal insight and meaningful growth.

We offer both room-based and nature-based therapy options, tailoring each experience to suit the individual’s needs. Sessions may involve working one-on-one with a horse, engaging with multiple horses in our specially designed indoor and outdoor spaces, or interacting with the entire herd. Clients can participate groundwork activities and structured interactions—focusing on connection rather than riding or horsemanship.

Through these experiences, clients are supported in exploring, processing, and understanding their feelings, behaviours, and response patterns in a safe and supportive environment.

Sessions are tailored to each client’s unique needs, addressing areas such as non-verbal communication, self-regulation, emotional expression, body awareness, assertiveness, creative thinking, teamwork, relationships, self-control, and confidence.

Our clinical team carefully designs each session to align with the client’s capabilities while providing opportunities for safe exploration, personal growth, and lasting change.

For Kids

Mindfulness and grounding strategies in a therapeutic setting can help children develop greater present-moment awareness, a deeper understanding of themselves and others, and improved emotional regulation.

By building these essential skills, children can experience enhanced emotional well-being, greater behavioural control, and an increased capacity for attention, concentration, and learning. These strategies foster resilience and confidence, empowering children to navigate challenges with greater ease and self-assurance.

For Teens

Experiential leadership and problem-solving techniques help adolescents build psychological flexibility and adaptive coping strategies. These approaches foster assertive communication, negotiation skills, and emotional awareness, allowing teens to deepen their understanding of themselves and their relationships.

By developing these skills, young people learn to establish healthy personal boundaries, navigate social dynamics with confidence, and strengthen their ability to resolve conflicts—empowering them to face challenges such as bullying and other hardships.

For Adults

Our therapeutic approach helps working adults gain new perspectives, challenge cognitive biases, and enhance problem-solving skills in a supportive setting. Through hands-on experiences, individuals test assumptions, build self-awareness, and develop emotional resilience.

By creating meaningful real-world experiences, these techniques promote healthy coping strategies, emotional regulation, and overall well-being—essential for managing anxiety, depression, and workplace stress. They also strengthen boundaries, improve communication, and support conflict resolution, empowering individuals to face challenges with confidence.
